It promotes a secure environment for open expression, feedback, suggestions, and discussions without fear of reprisal by keeping the sender's identity confidential. ## Install the Anonymizer app To install the **Anonymizer** app, follow these steps: 1. Go to **Marketplace** ![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/6ae79a05-7252-45d0-96e8-8f375e07b1b2/Images/Documentation/Screenshot 2025-12-23 130453.png) **> Explore**. 2. Search for and select the **Anonymizer** app. 3. Click **Install** and **Agree** to Terms & Privacy policy. 4. Click **Get** and **Agree** to accept the required permissions. ## Configure the Anonymizer app After installing the app, you need to configure its settings. 1. On the **Anonymizer App Info** screen, go to the **Settings** tab. 2. Update the following mandatory fields: | Field | Description | Example | | --- | --- | --- | | **Members Room Name******* | The **Anonymizer** app will only be enabled for members of this room. Messages from users who aren't members of this room are ignored. This field is case-sensitive. | `general` | | **Room Name******* | The room where the anonymous messages are posted. This field is case-sensitive. | `test-team` | | **Bot username******* | The bot username that forwards the message. Users send a [DM](/v1/docs/direct-messages) to this bot user in your workspace, which anonymously forwards the message to the configured room. The app uses `rocket.cat` by default. | `rocket.cat` | | **Bot Alias******* | The display name of the bot. It's displayed as the sender with the forwarded message. | `Anonymous` | | **Bot Avatar (emoji)******* | The emoji that represents the bot's avatar. | `:bust_in_silhouette:` | > [!NOTE] > If you [create a custom bot](/v1/docs/users#add-new-users), ensure it is a member of the room where anonymous messages are posted. Otherwise, messages will not be forwarded. Now that you've successfully set up the Anonymizer app, the next section guides you on how users can use the app in your workspace. ## Use the Anonymizer app Once the Anonymizer app is installed and configured, you can inform the members of the designated room that they can now send anonymous messages. To send an anonymous message, 1. A user simply sends a direct message to the configured bot (e.g., rocket.cat). 2. The bot will then forward the message to the configured `Room Name` without revealing the sender's identity. 3. Messages sent by users who are not part of the Members Room are ignored. > [!WARNING] > **Troubleshooting**: If your custom bot isn't forwarding messages, try disabling and re-enabling the Anonymizer app after updating the settings. With the Anonymizer app in your workspace, you can create a secure channel for open expression that builds trust and transparency across your organization.
