Secure Your Cloud Account

Prev Next

Rocket.Chat prioritizes data security and provides robust security measures to help you protect your Cloud account. This section covers how to manage key security settings, including password reset, two-factor authentication, and account deletion.

Reset your password

If you’ve forgotten your password or want to reset it:

  1. Go to the Rocket.Chat Cloud login page and click Reset password.

  2. Enter the email address associated with your account. A password reset link is sent to your email if it matches an account.

  3. Check your inbox for the reset link and click Reset My Password.

  4. Follow the prompt to set a new password.

Enable two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an additional layer of security to your Cloud account by requiring a one-time code from an authentication app.

You must have a password set on your account before you can enable 2FA.

To enable 2FA for your cloud account:

  1. From the sidebar menu, go to Security > Two-Factor Authentication.

  2. Click Enable. A modal is displayed, prompting you to enter your TOTP (time-based one-time password) or to set up one if you don't have one.

  3. Download an authenticator app (e.g.,  Google Authenticator, Authy, and Duo).

  4. Scan the QR code or manually enter the authentication key into your app.

  5. Enter the TOTP (time-based one-time password) from your app and click Next.

  6. Save the backup codes displayed. These can be used if you lose access to your authenticator app.

Once 2FA is enabled, you’ll be required to provide an authenticator code during login or password reset.

Your 2FA setup is now complete. You can now view the number of remaining backup codes, access options to disable 2FA, or generate new codes.

Delete your account

To delete your Rocket.Chat Cloud account:

  1. From the sidebar menu, go to Security > Delete Account.

  2. Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm deletion.

Before proceeding, keep the following in mind:

  • If you have an ongoing paid subscription or an active contract, you cannot delete your account. Once the duration of the subscription or contract is complete, you can delete your account.

  • If you are the owner of any workspaces and organizations associated with your account, they are all deleted with account deletion.

  • If you are not the owner of workspaces and organizations, you will be removed from the organization with the account deletion.
