This document provides information on Rocket.Chat's approach to maintaining client compatibility. While all past releases are not officially supported and may cause issues, Rocket.Chat strives to ensure its applications function correctly with the most recent server versions. This approach ensures that users get the latest features and improvements while maintaining a secure, stable, and reliable user experience. ## Desktop Rocket.Chat uses the [Electron](https://www.electronjs.org/) open-source framework to build its desktop application. For information on the desktop releases, refer to the [Rocket.Chat.Electron](https://github.com/RocketChat/Rocket.Chat.Electron/releases) repository and the [Desktop Release Notes](/v1/docs/desktop-release-notes). The following table shows the compatibility of different Electron versions with the supported Rocket.Chat desktop releases: | Electron version | Supported desktop releases | | --- | --- | | 4.0+ | 3.0+ | | 2.15 | 1.0+ | | 2.14 | ⩽ 0.70 | | 2.13 | ⩽ 0.69 | | 2.12 | ⩽ 0.68 | | 2.11 | ⩽ 0.65 | | 2.10 | ⩽ 0.59 | | 2.9 | ⩽ 0.58 | | 2.8 | ⩽ 0.56 | | 2.7 | ⩽ 0.55 | ## Mobile [Rocket.Chat's mobile applications](https://github.com/RocketChat/Rocket.Chat.ReactNative/releases) support a maximum of three major [Rocket.Chat versions](https://github.com/RocketChat/Rocket.Chat/releases) on each release. This is due to the rapid evolution of the platform's APIs with each release, which can make maintaining compatibility with older versions challenging, especially when those versions lack support for specific features. | App version | Supported Rocket.Chat releases | | --- | --- | | 4.0.0+ | 0.70+ | > [!NOTE] > - For information on end-of-life for each Rocket.Chat version, see the [Supported versions and end-of-life schedule](/v1/docs/version-durability) document. > - To learn how to install the apps, see the [Install Desktop & Mobile App](/v1/docs/desktop-mobile-apps) document. > - Refer to the [Minimum Requirements for Client Apps](/v1/docs/minimum-requirements-for-client-apps) document for details on the supported client applications for optimal experience. ## How to check the app version you are using **Web/Desktop** If you are accessing the Rocket.Chat workspace from a **web browser**, administrators can go to **Administration** > **Workspace**. A window displays the desktop version, for example, `4.8.1`. **Mobile** To check the Rocket.Chat mobile app and workspace version, follow these steps: 1.
