These apps range from integrations with third-party services to custom features designed to improve user experience. ## Prerequisites Before interacting with the Marketplace, ensure your workspace meets the following requirements: - Your workspace must be registered on [Rocket.Chat Cloud](https://cloud.rocket.chat), regardless of your [subscription plan](/v1/docs/our-plans). - Your workspace version must be within the official [support window](/v1/docs/support-prerequisites-and-version-durability#support-window-duration). - If your workspace is behind a firewall, whitelist `marketplace.rocket.chat` URL to list and install marketplace apps. Refer to the [Firewall Configuration](/firewall-configuration) for a full list of required URLs. --- ## Access the Marketplace To access the Marketplace, click the **Marketplace** icon ![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/6ae79a05-7252-45d0-96e8-8f375e07b1b2/Images/Documentation/Screenshot 2025-12-23 130453.png) from the main menu. From here, you can navigate several key areas: - **Explore**: Search and filter apps by category, status, and price. The ![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/6ae79a05-7252-45d0-96e8-8f375e07b1b2/Images/Documentation/incompatible.png) tag next to an app on the marketplace means you need to upgrade your workspace to a higher version to use the app - **Installed**: View all installed apps in your workspace to enable/disable, uninstall, configure settings, or view logs. - **Premium**: View apps that require your workspace to be on an [premium plan](/v1/docs/our-plans). - **Requested**: Monitor a dedicated list of apps that workspace users have requested for installation. - **Private Apps**: See all private apps that you installed on your workspace > [!NOTE] > Users with the **Access marketplace** [permission](/permissions) can access the Rocket.Chat marketplace and request for any app they need in the workspace. --- ## Types of Rocket.Chat Apps There are two types of apps in Rocket.Chat: **public and private apps**. ### Public apps Public apps are diverse range of apps developed in-house by Rocket.Chat or by third-party developers. It includes free, paid, and plan-exclusive apps. Most public apps require a valid premium license. These apps are available through the Rocket.Chat [marketplace](https://www.rocket.chat/marketplace). Third-party developers can submit their own apps to the Marketplace. It requires a Rocket.Chat [Cloud account](https://cloud.rocket.chat/login) and a registered publisher account. For detailed guidance, refer to the [App Submission Guide](https://developer.rocket.chat/apps-engine/app-submission-to-the-marketplace). > [!CAUTION] > You must purchase the Rocket.Chat paid apps to use them in your workspace, regardless of your subscription [plan](/readme/our-plans). ### Private apps Private apps are custom solutions you develop for your workspaces. They are managed directly within your workspace and are not listed publicly on the Marketplace. To build a custom app for your workspace, refer to the [Rocket.Chat Apps-Engine guide](https://developer.rocket.chat/docs/rocketchat-apps-engine). Private apps are available on self-managed workspaces and on Dedicated private cloud workspaces. Standard cloud and Premium cloud workspaces run on shared infrastructure and do not support private apps. See [Manage Private Apps](/v1/docs/rocketchat-private-apps). --- ## App installation and usage limits by plans | Starter and premium plans | Public apps | Private apps | | --- | --- | --- | | Install | Unlimited | Unlimited | | Enable/Use | Unlimited | Unlimited | | Community workspaces | Public apps | Private apps | | --- | --- | --- | | Install | Unlimited | Unlimited | | Enable/Use | 5 | 0 | > [!NOTE] > - Community workspaces can install unlimited public apps even after reaching the enabled app limit. > - To enable new public apps on community workspaces after reaching the limit, you can disable existing enabled apps or upgrade to a plan. > - If a premium license expires and the workspace exceeds Community limits, all apps are disabled and the enabled app count resets to zero. > - From version 7.0 onward, private apps installed on Community workspaces are disabled by default. > - On cloud-hosted workspaces, private app installation is available only on Dedicated private cloud, regardless of plan. Standard cloud and Premium cloud workspaces do not support private apps.
