After successfully configuring your WebRTC settings or SIP integration, the final step is to define which users have access to the calling features.
You must configure the appropriate role permissions to allow users to start making voice calls within your workspace.
Navigate to Administration > Workspace > Permissions.
Locate the roles for the users you want to grant calling access to (for example,
user
or a custom role).Enable the following permissions as needed:
Permission
Description
Allow Internal Voice Calls
It allows users to make and receive calls with other Rocket.Chat users. Depending on your configuration, this applies to standard WebRTC and SIP-routed internal calls.
Allow External Voice Calls
This permission allows users to place and receive calls routed through their SIP provider, including PSTN calls. It is effective only when SIP integration is fully configured.
Manage Voice Calls
Grants administrative control over all voice call settings, including WebRTC/SIP configuration and user extension management. This should be restricted to administrators or infrastructure managers.
Once the necessary permissions have been set up, end users can follow the Team Voice Calls User guide to make and receive voice calls in Rocket.Chat.
