    This guide explains the various actions available in the Rocket.Chat Discussions menu bar. Each icon represents a specific action you can take to manage and interact within Discussions based on your assigned permissions.

    View or edit Discussion information

    To view or edit Discussion information,

    • Click the Room Information icon from the menu bar to view more details about the team.

    • Click the Edit button to update the Discussion information and avatar.

      • To hide system messages, enable the Hide system messages option and select the Rocket.Chat action alerts you want to hide. For example, the User joined option hides the message displayed when a new user joins the discussion.

      • Enable Allow Reacting to allow members to react to messages in a read-only discussion.

      • To set an automatic pruning retention policy for the discussion, visit Per-room policies.

    • Click the Delete button to delete the discussion.

    • Click the kebab menu to explore additional actions, such as hiding or leaving the discussion.

    • A Discussion owner can not leave a Discussion until they set someone else as the owner of that Discussion.

    • To unhide a Discussion, you may search for it in your Rocket.Chat workspace.

    • Alternatively, enter the command /part or /leave in the message input box to leave that Discussion.

    Other Discussion actions

    In addition to editing a Discussion, there are various other actions in the menu bar you can perform to manage and interact within a Discussion effectively. These actions include the following:

    1. Threads: Click the threads icon to view and participate in Threads in the Discussion. This keeps related messages organized and allows you to focus on the most relevant conversations in the Discussion. You can filter threads between All, Following, and Unread.

    2. Search: Refer to Search messages user guide.

    3. Mentions: Click the Mentions icon to view a list of all messages in which you've been mentioned, ensuring you don't miss any important conversations.

    4. Members: Click the kebab menu and select the Team Members icon to view and manage the list of all members in the Discussion. For more details, refer to Manage Room Members.

    5. Files: Kindly visit Manage room files.

    Click the kebab menu to access additional Discussion settings and actions, such as starred messages, notification preferences, pruning, and export messages. For a detailed guide, refer to Room Actions.
