Do I need a Meta account to use the WhatsApp Cloud App?

Yes. The WhatsApp Cloud API is provided by Meta, so you must:

  • Have a Meta (Facebook) developer account

  • Set up your WhatsApp Cloud API configuration through Meta

Rocket.Chat connects to your existing Meta setup.

How is WhatsApp Cloud API pricing calculated?

WhatsApp Cloud API uses conversation-based pricing, defined by Meta.

  • Charges are based on conversation types (user-initiated or business-initiated)

  • Pricing varies by region and message category

Rocket.Chat does not charge additional fees for WhatsApp conversations when using the WhatsApp Cloud App.

How many messages can be sent per second?

By default, the WhatsApp Cloud API supports:

  • Up to 80 messages per second (MPS)

  • Up to 500 MPS with approval from Meta

This includes both text and media messages combined.

The WhatsApp Cloud API supports common media types such as:

  • Images

  • Videos

  • Audio files

  • Documents

If you’re unable to send messages, check:
