User menu
Click your avatar in the main menu to open the user menu. It contains the following:
Profile overview: Shows your avatar, username, and current status.
Status: Set your status to Online, Away, Busy, Meeting, or Offline. You can also write a custom status message or choose one predefined by your workspace administrator. Custom status messages support Markdown, so you can use bold or italic text.
Account: Manage your profile, preferences, and appearance.
Keyboard shortcuts: View the list of available keyboard shortcuts. You can also press Shift+? anywhere in Rocket.Chat to open this list. See Keyboard shortcuts below.
Logout: Log out of the workspace.
Keyboard shortcuts
Global shortcuts
You can use these shortcuts anywhere in Rocket.Chat.
Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
Shift+? | Show the list of keyboard shortcuts. |
Ctrl+P or Ctrl+K | Open channel or user search. |
Ctrl+Esc | Mark all messages as read. |
Message composer shortcuts
You can use these shortcuts while typing a message.
Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
Up arrow | Edit your last message in the room. This is meant to work only when the message box is empty. |
Alt+Left arrow | Move to the beginning of the line. |
Alt+Right arrow | Move to the end of the line. |
Alt+Up arrow | Move to the beginning of the message. |
Alt+Down arrow | Move to the end of the message. |
Shift+Enter | Start a new line in the message. |
Mac users: Replace Ctrl with Command and Alt with Option.
Known issue: If the message box already has text and your cursor is on the first line, pressing the Up arrow can still open your last message for editing. If you then press Esc, the text you were writing is lost. If you press Enter, it replaces your last message. To move to the top of a long message safely, use Alt+Up arrow instead.
