Manage Direct Messages

You can perform various actions from the DM menu bar to manage and interact with your direct messages effectively.

View user information

To view user details in a DM:

  • Click the User Info icon from the menu bar to view user details. This panel displays details such as the user’s roles, username, local time, last login, email, and account creation date. For multi-user DMs, refer to Manage Room Members guide.

  • Click the Video Call or Voice Call icon to start a call with the user (available if a calling app such as Conference Call is configured on your workspace).

  • Select View reported messages to open the moderation dashboard and view any reported messages. This option is available only to workspace administrators.

  • Click the kebab menu () to Block or Report the user. When reporting, include a reason before confirming.

After blocking a user, the DM room shows a Blocked indicator. Blocked users cannot send you direct messages unless unblocked.

Other DM actions

You can also manage DMs from the sidebar:

  • Hover over the DM in the sidebar and click the kebab menu ().

  • Select Hide to remove the conversation from your list without deleting it.

  • Choose Favorite to pin the DM at the top of your list for quick access.

  • Use Mark as Unread to highlight the conversation and remind yourself to follow up later.
