What happens when I downgrade my Rocket.Chat workspace plan?
Downgrading your Rocket.Chat workspace to a lower-tier plan results in the removal or limitation of certain features. Understanding these changes is essential for managing expectations and ensuring a smooth transition.
Below is an overview of the key impacts when downgrading:
1. Downgrading from Enterprise to Starter or Pro
Engagement dashboard: This feature will no longer be accessible.
Device management: Access to this functionality will be removed.
Custom roles: Creation of new custom roles will be disabled.
Scalability: Support for multi-instance and microservices architecture will be revoked. Workspaces using this model will need a new deployment.
Guest users: The ability to create new guest users will be removed.
2. Downgrading from Starter or Pro to Community
Read receipts: This feature will be disabled, and historical data will be lost.
Push notifications: Secure push notifications will be disabled and the 10K/month limit will apply.
White label: The Rocket.Chat watermark will be re-added, and homepage customization options will be limited.
Apps: All apps will be disabled. Your workspace will be limited to 5 public and 0 private apps. Premium apps will stop functioning and cannot be re-enabled.
Video conferencing: The call manager will be disabled. Related premium apps will no longer function.
Advanced user authentication: Premium authentication features will be removed.
User presence service: Disabled when more than 200 concurrent users are connected.
3. Transition from Enterprise to Community
If downgrading directly from Enterprise to Community, all restrictions listed in both sections above will apply.
Before proceeding with a downgrade, we recommend carefully reviewing these changes to understand how they may affect your workspace's performance, scalability, and user experience. For guidance or questions, our support team is here to help ensure a smooth transition.
