Secure Your Cloud Account

Prev Next

You can manage your Rocket.Chat Cloud account security settings, including your password, two-factor authentication, and account deletion in the Cloud Portal.

Reset your password

If you have forgotten your password or want to create a new one:

  1. Go to the Rocket.Chat Cloud login page.

  2. Select Enter password instead, then select Reset password.

  3. Enter the email address associated with your Cloud account.

  4. Check your inbox for the password reset email and select Reset My Password.

  5. Follow the instructions to create a new password.

If the email address matches a Cloud account, Rocket.Chat sends a password reset link to that address.

Enable two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security by requiring a code from an authenticator app when you access your Cloud account.

You must have a password set for your account before you can enable 2FA.

To enable 2FA for your cloud account:

  1. From the sidebar, select Security.

  2. Under Two-Factor Authentication, select Enable.

  3. Open a compatible authenticator app. If you do not have one, install an app such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or Duo.

  4. Scan the displayed QR code with the authenticator app. Alternatively, manually enter the authentication key.

  5. Enter the six-digit code generated by the authenticator app, then select Next.

  6. Save the displayed backup codes in a secure location. You can use them if you lose access to your authenticator app.

After enabling 2FA, you must provide a code from your authenticator app when signing in or resetting your password.

From the Security page, you can view your remaining backup codes, generate new codes, or disable 2FA.

Delete your account

Deleting your Rocket.Chat Cloud account is permanent and cannot be undone.

To delete your account:

  1. From the sidebar, select Security.

  2. Under Delete Account, follow the on-screen instructions to confirm the deletion.

Before deleting your account, consider the following:

  • You cannot delete your account while you have an active paid subscription or contract. You can delete it after the subscription or contract ends.

  • If you own any organizations or workspaces, they are also deleted when you delete your account.

  • If you are a member of an organization or workspace but do not own it, deleting your account removes you from it.
