This guide provides detailed instructions on how to manage teams in Rocket.Chat. The actions available to you depend on your assigned permissions.
View or edit team information
You can access and manage team details directly from the Team info panel.
Click the Team info
icon in the menu bar to open the team details view.To hide a team from your left sidebar, click Hide.
The team will reappear if a new message is sent to it.
To unhide a team, search for it using the Directory icon.
Click View channels to display all channels that belong to the team.
Click Edit to modify the team details and avatar.
Under Edit, you can update the team’s name, topic, announcement, description, and privacy settings.
You can also configure advanced teams security and permission settings such as read-only mode, archiving, hiding system messages, and message pruning.
Leaving or converting a team
From the More options (â‹®) menu in the Team info panel, you can perform several actions related to team management:
Leave: Exit the team. Note that a team owner cannot leave until they assign another member as the new owner.
When leaving a team, you can decide whether to stay in its channels.
Convert to Channel: Transform the team into a channel. All current team members are retained, and the channel becomes the team’s main discussion channel.
Delete: Permanently remove the team and all its content. This action requires the appropriate delete permissions.
Alternative ways to leave a team
Use the
/partor/leavecommand in the message box.On mobile, tap the team name, then select Leave.
