To access Rocket.Chat's cloud services, all workspaces must be registered on the Rocket.Chat Cloud and within the defined support window. Registration links your workspace to Rocket.Chat Cloud and enables access to services such as push notifications, marketplace apps, and more. This guide covers how to register self-managed, air-gapped, and cloud-hosted workspaces, and how to re-register if needed.
You must have a Rocket.Chat Cloud account before registering. If you don't have one, follow the Create Your New Cloud Account guide first.
Register your self-managed workspace
For self-managed deployments, workspace registration is a required step in the setup wizard.
You can also re-register at any time if your workspace becomes disconnected (for example, after a migration or license issue) using either email or token.
Once your workspace is unregistered, a Register Workspace button will appear under Manage
> Workspace, making re-registration accessible.
Registering via email
To register your self-managed workspace using your Rocket.Chat Cloud email:
Go to Manage
> Workspace.Click Register Workspace.
This button won’t be visible for air-gapped deployments.
Enter your Rocket.Chat Cloud account email to link your workspace.
Review and accept the Terms and Privacy Policy.
Click Register Workspace again to continue.
You'll receive a confirmation email. Open it and click Verify Registration.
Once verified, your workspace will be registered.
To complete the process, go to Manage
> Workspace > Subscriptions and click Sync License to update your workspace registration status.
Registering via token
Use this method if you've received a token from the Rocket.Chat Cloud portal, Sales, or Support.
Get a token
How you get your token depends on your plan:
Premium plans: Contact Rocket.Chat Sales to request a registration token.
Starter and Community workspaces: Generate a token directly from the Rocket.Chat Cloud portal.
To generate a token from the Cloud portal:
If your workspace is on a premium plan, do not generate a token from Rocket.Chat Cloud. Self-generated tokens will create a new registration on a free plan (Starter/Community) and will not restore or reconnect your existing paid subscription.
Log in to your Rocket.Chat Cloud account and go to Workspaces.
Click the Register self-managed button.
When prompted, select Copy Token and Continue Online. The token will be displayed in the Continue Online with Cloud Services modal.
How to register with a token
In your workspace, go to Manage
> Workspace.Click Register Workspace.
Click Use Token.
Paste the token and click Next to complete the registration.
Once successful, a “Connected” message will confirm that your workspace is registered.
To complete the process, go to Manage
> Workspace > Subscriptions and click Sync License to update your workspace registration status. You may also need to refresh the workspace to update the registration status.
Alternative methods
If you prefer not to register your workspace via the UI, you can also use an environment variable to register it automatically during deployment:
REG_TOKEN={your token here}Refer to Deployment Environment Variables guide to learn more.
While this method works, we recommend using the UI-based token registration whenever possible, as it provides better feedback and validation during setup.
For Starter and Community workspaces, you can re-register your workspace following this video:
Register your air-gapped workspace
If you're using an air-gapped deployment, your workspace will operate offline and cannot access any cloud services.
To learn more about air-gapped setups, see Air-gapped deployments.
To register an offline workspace, follow the Air-gapped Workspace Registration guide.

Register your cloud-hosted workspace
Cloud-hosted workspaces are managed via Rocket.Chat’s Cloud Hosting Services.

When you create your first cloud-hosted workspace, a Rocket.Chat Cloud account is automatically generated for you.
After registration, your workspace is ready for configuration and user access. You can continue by customizing your workspace, setting up permissions, and inviting users.
