What defines a seat?
A seat is any user with an Active or Pending status in the user panel, regardless of whether they’ve logged into your workspace.
Guest users, deactivated users, and app users do not count as seats.
What are the seat limits for Rocket.Chat plans?
Starter: Up to 50 users
Pro: Up to 500 users
Enterprise: Custom limits based on your organization’s needs
To upgrade your plan or purchase additional seats, visit the Workspaces documentation.
What happens if I exceed the seat limit?
You cannot exceed the seat limit by manually adding users or through integrations. If a premium license is applied to a workspace that already exceeds its seat limit, the license may become invalid.
To avoid service interruptions, make sure the number of seats stays within your license limit.
Does Rocket.Chat have a fair use allowance policy?
Yes. For more information, refer to the Fair Use Allowance FAQ.
How does the trial period function?
The trial period gives your workspace access to the next tier plan for 30 days:
If you're on the Starter plan, you’ll receive a 30-day Pro trial, allowing up to 500 users, which is the limit of the Pro plan
If you're on the Pro plan, you’ll receive a 30-day Enterprise trial, unlocking all Enterprise features and limits.

What if I want to purchase extra seats?
For self-service customers, if you're already subscribed and want to purchase additional seats, you’ll be charged a prorated amount based on the remaining time in the current billing cycle. Here's how it works:
Prorated cost: Each additional seat is prorated based on how many days remain in your billing cycle.
Example: If you add seats halfway through the cycle, you'll only be charged for the remaining half.Estimated total: You’ll see an updated Estimated total, which includes the full cost of all seats (existing + newly added) for the next billing cycle. This shows what you’ll pay going forward.
If you're a sales-enabled customer, please contact Sales to purchase additional seats.
