This guide walks you through setting up and configuring your Rocket.Chat workspace using the Setup Wizard. By the end of this process, you’ll have a registered workspace with an admin account ready to manage users, settings, and integrations.
The Setup Wizard launches automatically the first time you access your deployed Rocket.Chat server. It only appears once and must be completed to start using the workspace.
Step-by-step instructions
1. Admin Information
The first user to access the workspace becomes the admin. Fill in the required fields to create the admin account:
Full Name – e.g.,
Jane Doe
Username – e.g.,
admin
Email – e.g.,
[email protected]
Password – Create a secure password
Click Next to continue.
2. Organization Information
Provide basic information about your organization:
Organization Name
Industry
Size
Country
Click Next to continue.
3. Register Your Workspace
Registering your workspace connects it to Rocket.Chat Cloud. This enables features like push notifications, licensing, and access to premium services.
Enter the admin email address to associate with your workspace
Agree to the Terms and Privacy Policy
Click Register workspace

You’ll receive a confirmation email at the admin address provided. Open the email and click Verify Registration to complete the process.
4. Final steps
Once you've completed the setup steps, your Rocket.Chat workspace is fully configured and ready to use. Log in with your admin credentials to start managing your workspace.
You can always revisit and update these settings later by navigating to: Administration > Workspace > Settings > Setup Wizard

When you register your workspace, Rocket.Chat collects the following details to help identify, support, and manage your workspace. This information is required to connect your workspace with Rocket.Chat Cloud services.
Identity & contact details
These fields help uniquely identify your workspace and provide contact points if needed:
Workspace ID – A unique identifier for your workspace
Account name – Internal name for the account/workspace
Contact name – Primary contact person for the workspace
Contact email – Email used for communications and license management
Organization details
These help us understand your organization and tailor features or services:
Organization address
Organization name
Organization type – e.g., business, education, nonprofit
Industry – The sector your organization operates in
Size of the organization – Typically by number of employees
Country – Used for region-specific compliance and service
Workspace configuration
These are related to how your workspace is set up:
Language – Default language for the workspace
Website – Your organization's public website (if applicable)
Site name – The internal name displayed in the workspace
Workspace type – e.g., community, enterprise
Number of seats – Number of users/seats in your plan
Deployment information
These help us support your setup and update experience:
Deployment method – e.g., Docker, Snap, Podman
Deployment platform – e.g., Ubuntu, Kubernetes, DigitalOcean
Rocket.Chat version – Helps ensure compatibility with services and update.
