Manage your workspace license

Starting from Rocket.Chat 8.7, workspace administrators can apply, replace, or remove a license directly from the Subscription page. Rocket.Chat validates every license against your workspace before it is applied, so invalid values are never applied.

Apply or update your workspace license

  1. Navigate to Manage Screenshot 2025-12-23 130522.png > Workspace > Subscription.

  2. Click Manage license from the plan details card.

  3. Apply your license using one of the following methods:

    1. Paste key: Paste your raw license key directly into the License key field.

    2. Upload file: Drag and drop your .txt license file, or click Upload license file to select it.

  4. Wait for real-time validation. Rocket.Chat automatically verifies the license key against your workspace instance.

  5. Once the license passes validation, click Apply license.

  6. Click Sync license update at the top right of the page to refresh your workspace capabilities immediately.

Remove a license key

  1. Navigate to Manage Screenshot 2025-12-23 130522.png > Workspace > Subscription.

  2. Click Manage license from the plan details card.

  3. With the current license shown in the License key field, click Remove license.

  4. Review the confirmation message. Removing the key immediately applies the Rocket.Chat Community license, and Community restrictions take effect right away.

  5. Click Apply community license to confirm.

The workspace immediately switches to the Community license.

  • Restart your workspace instance for license removal to fully take effect.

  • If your workspace is connected to Rocket.Chat Cloud, cancel the license in the Cloud portal before restarting. Otherwise, Rocket.Chat Cloud reapplies the license when the workspace starts.
